Pumpkin Pine and Pitch Black Table – just in time for Halloween

img_3487-2I had a lot of fun with this piece!  Its an antique and had some dark stain and thick gloss lacquer over it hiding the true beauty of the original knotty pine.   I sanded it down to the original wood and used a pumpkin pine stain and satin finish.  There is a small drawer, which got an antiqued gold bamboo handle.  For the base, I wanted to challenge myself with authentic materials so used the powder-form Old Fashioned Milk Paint in Pitch Black.  The distressing on the piece brings out the age, despite the refresh and 4 coats of wax buffed in by hand gives a smooth soft finish.
